AI Use & Transparency Policy
CHARTFI AI USE & TRANSPARENCY POLICY
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
1. Introduction
ChartFI is committed to using artificial intelligence ("AI") responsibly, transparently, and in a manner that supports—not replaces—sound financial decision-making.
This AI Use & Transparency Policy explains:
- how AI is used within ChartFI;
- what AI is designed to do;
- what AI is not designed to do;
- the limitations of AI-generated content;
- your responsibilities when using AI features; and
- how AI interactions are handled.
This Policy applies whenever you use any AI-powered functionality within the ChartFI Services.
This Policy supplements our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Financial Disclaimer. In the event of a conflict, the Terms of Service govern unless otherwise required by applicable law.
2. Our Philosophy
ChartFI was designed to help users understand retirement and tax planning through transparent software and mathematical modeling.
Artificial intelligence is intended to enhance the user experience—not replace human judgment.
Accordingly, AI within ChartFI is designed to:
- explain calculations;
- explain assumptions;
- explain how features work;
- help users navigate the application;
- summarize planning scenarios; and
- answer questions about ChartFI functionality.
AI is not intended to make financial decisions on your behalf.
You remain solely responsible for evaluating any information generated through the Services.
3. How AI Is Used
Depending upon your subscription level, AI functionality may include:
- explanations of retirement projections;
- explanations of tax calculations;
- descriptions of assumptions used in calculations;
- explanations of financial terminology;
- assistance understanding charts and reports;
- explanations of how ChartFI features operate;
- answers to questions about application functionality; and
- educational content related to retirement planning concepts.
AI responses are generated automatically. They are intended to improve usability and understanding of the software.
3.1 Free Accounts
Users of the free plan may have access to AI features that assist with navigating the application, understanding documentation, learning how to use ChartFI, and answering general product questions.
Free-plan AI is not intended to analyze a user's personal financial information.
3.2 Paid Accounts
Paid subscribers may receive AI-generated explanations regarding information contained within their own planning scenarios. Examples include:
- why a retirement projection changed;
- why estimated taxes differ between scenarios;
- why required savings changed;
- how user-selected assumptions affected projected outcomes; and
- explanations of ChartFI calculations.
These explanations are intended solely to help users understand ChartFI's outputs. They are not individualized professional advice.
4. What AI Does NOT Do
ChartFI's AI is intentionally designed with defined limitations. The AI is not intended to:
- recommend investments, specific securities, mutual funds, ETFs, individual stocks, or cryptocurrencies;
- recommend insurance products or annuities;
- recommend tax strategies specific to your circumstances;
- recommend legal strategies;
- prepare tax returns;
- prepare estate plans;
- determine the suitability of investments;
- predict future market performance;
- predict future tax law; or
- replace licensed professionals.
If AI produces content that appears to provide such recommendations, that content should be considered unintended and should not be relied upon.
5. AI Limitations
Artificial intelligence is an evolving technology. Although ChartFI implements safeguards designed to improve the quality of AI responses, AI systems remain subject to limitations, and AI-generated content should always be treated as informational rather than authoritative.
Section 9 describes specific ways AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. In all cases, you should independently verify information before relying upon it.
6. No Professional Advice
AI-generated content does not constitute investment advice, financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, fiduciary advice, or personalized professional advice.
Neither Good Trajectory LLC nor its AI features act as:
- a Registered Investment Adviser;
- a Certified Financial Planner™ professional;
- a Certified Public Accountant;
- an attorney;
- an enrolled agent; or
- a broker-dealer.
Your use of AI does not create a professional-client relationship of any kind.
7. Your Responsibilities When Using AI Features
When using AI features, you agree that you will:
- use reasonable judgment;
- independently evaluate important information;
- verify significant financial assumptions;
- consult qualified professionals when appropriate; and
- avoid relying exclusively upon AI-generated content when making important financial decisions.
You remain solely responsible for financial, tax, retirement, legal, and investment decisions.
AI responses are only one informational input among many that you may choose to consider.
8. AI Data Usage and Privacy
We recognize that users may include sensitive financial information when interacting with AI features. Our goal is to minimize the information processed by AI systems while providing useful explanations.
When you interact with AI features, we may process:
- the prompts you submit;
- information necessary to answer your request;
- conversation history relevant to your current session; and
- technical metadata associated with the request.
We do not store your AI conversations on our systems. Prompts and responses are processed to generate the response you request and are not saved to our database; your conversation history is held in your browser session. We do record limited, non-content usage metering (message counts, token counts, estimated cost) to apply usage limits and manage costs; that metering contains no prompt or response text. Information you submit is transmitted to our AI provider, which processes and retains it under its own terms.
We do not use your AI conversations or financial planning information to train artificial intelligence models. Where AI functionality is provided through third-party AI service providers, we seek to configure those services so that information you submit is not used to train the providers' models.
The collection, use, retention, and disclosure of AI conversation data are also governed by our Privacy Policy.
8.1 Data Minimization
ChartFI is designed to follow the principle of data minimization. Where reasonably practicable, we seek to provide AI functionality using only the information necessary to respond to your request.
We encourage users not to enter information that is unrelated to their financial planning or unnecessary for obtaining the requested explanation. Examples of information you should generally avoid entering include:
- Social Security numbers;
- driver's license numbers;
- passport numbers;
- complete bank account numbers;
- credit card numbers;
- tax return documents;
- medical records; and
- other highly sensitive personal information not requested by the Services.
8.2 Third-Party AI Providers
AI functionality is provided through a third-party AI service provider, currently Anthropic, PBC (the Anthropic API).
The provider processes information solely for the purpose of generating the responses requested through the Services.
Under Anthropic's commercial terms, the inputs and outputs sent through the Anthropic API are not used to train Anthropic's models. If we change or add AI providers in the future, we will seek providers that offer comparable contractual commitments regarding security, privacy, and non-use of submitted information for model training, and we will update this Policy where appropriate.
Additional information regarding our handling of AI-related information is available in our Privacy Policy.
9. AI Accuracy and Hallucinations
Artificial intelligence systems can generate responses that appear authoritative even when they are inaccurate or incomplete. This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as a "hallucination."
Although ChartFI implements safeguards designed to reduce inaccurate responses, AI-generated content may:
- cite incorrect facts;
- misunderstand user intent;
- reference outdated information;
- incorrectly summarize calculations;
- make arithmetic mistakes when reasoning about information;
- omit relevant considerations; and
- provide incomplete or internally inconsistent explanations.
Accordingly:
- AI responses should not be treated as authoritative financial guidance;
- important information should be independently verified; and
- the deterministic calculations displayed elsewhere in the Services take precedence over AI explanations if the two differ.
If you believe an AI response is incorrect, we encourage you to contact us so that we can investigate and improve the user experience.
10. AI Guardrails
ChartFI intentionally limits the scope of AI functionality. Our AI systems are designed with safeguards intended to reduce the likelihood of generating content outside the intended purpose of the Services.
These safeguards are intended to discourage AI from:
- recommending investments or specific securities;
- recommending market timing decisions;
- recommending individualized tax strategies;
- recommending legal strategies;
- encouraging unlawful conduct;
- generating malicious software;
- disclosing confidential Company information; or
- circumventing application security.
While we strive to make these safeguards effective, no safeguard is perfect. Users should not assume that every AI response will remain within these intended boundaries.
11. Prohibited AI Uses
You agree that you will not use AI features to:
- violate applicable law;
- infringe another person's rights;
- harass or threaten others;
- submit malicious code;
- attempt to discover confidential system prompts;
- bypass AI safety measures;
- manipulate AI into producing prohibited content;
- reverse engineer proprietary AI workflows;
- automate large-scale extraction of AI responses; or
- use AI outputs to train another artificial intelligence model without our prior written consent.
You are responsible for all prompts submitted through your account.
12. Availability of AI Features
AI functionality is provided on an "as available" basis. We may:
- modify AI models;
- change AI providers;
- improve prompts;
- revise safety measures;
- introduce new AI features;
- discontinue existing AI functionality;
- impose usage limits;
- establish rate limits; and
- restrict AI availability by subscription tier.
The availability or behavior of AI features may change without prior notice as we continue improving the Services.
13. Intellectual Property
The prompts, workflows, guardrails, orchestration logic, and other proprietary methods used by ChartFI to deliver AI functionality are owned by or licensed to Good Trajectory LLC.
Nothing in this Policy grants you ownership of AI prompts, prompt engineering techniques, orchestration logic, proprietary workflows, internal system instructions, software code, algorithms, or underlying models.
You may use AI-generated responses solely in connection with your own lawful use of the Services.
14. Future AI Capabilities
ChartFI may introduce additional AI-powered features in the future. Examples may include enhanced planning explanations, educational content, scenario summaries, improved report interpretation, natural language search, and conversational planning assistance.
As AI capabilities evolve, we will update this Policy where appropriate to describe material changes in our use of AI.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, future AI functionality remains subject to the same guiding principles described in this Policy:
- transparency;
- user control;
- responsible use;
- protection of user information; and
- avoidance of individualized professional advice.
15. Changes to this Policy
We may update this AI Use & Transparency Policy from time to time to reflect changes in AI technology, changes in our Services, changes in applicable law, changes to third-party AI providers, or improvements in our AI governance practices.
If we make material changes, we will provide notice by one or more reasonable methods, including updating the Effective Date, posting the revised Policy within the Services, and providing notice through the application or by email where appropriate.
Your continued use of AI features after the revised Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the updated Policy.
